Laurier initiates new booking system for OSAP pickup

Laurier students who receive OSAP loans will now be able to schedule a timeslot to pick up their cheques rather than waiting in a familiar, incredibly long lineup at Student Awards office this September. A group of ten Wilfrid Laurier University business students traveled to Beijing and Shenzhen, China in early July to head workshops for students at international high schools.

Renovations to the Hub and OneCard office in the concourse will be underway through the remainder of the summer with both services set to reopen in the fall. This summer, Wilfrid Laurier University alumnus Matt Stonkus and his brother Alex combined athletics and philanthropy to raise awareness and support for the Alzheimer Society of Canada. Over the course of a month the brothers have raised close to $11,000, holding charity events at CrossFit gyms across the country.

Charity Ball among those committees to increase donation

Donations for the Wilfrid Laurier Students’ Union (WLUSU) committees were finalized and released today, with a final total coming in at $115,651.47. The number is a combination of donations given by committees Charity Ball, Shinerama, Boar’s Head and Laurier University Charity Kouncil (L.U.C.K.).

Vice president of clubs and activities Burton Lee credits last year’s volunteers for the rise in donations for the 2009-10 year.

On June 16, former chancellor to Wilfrid Laurier University, Maureen Forrester, died at the age of 79.
