The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s lacrosse team edged out a win Sunday morning, ending their match against Queens 7-5 after beating McMaster 12-1 the previous day. Coming off of last week’s 2-1 loss to Guelph, head coach Lynn Orth was happy to see practice paying off for her team.

Last week, Glenn Bryan, a midfielder on Laurier's men's lacrosse team was awarded All-Canadian status by the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA).
Bryan had a terrific season for the purple and gold, scoring eight goals and adding 18 assists for a team-leading 26 points.

The Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks’ women’s lacrosse team has had a turbulent year. They have been dominating the province for the last several seasons and have won seven Ontario University Athletics (OUA) championships under head coach Lynn Orth.

On Saturday morning, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s lacrosse team did something that they hadn’t done since Oct. 1, 2006 – lose.
When the Hawks fell 9-5 to the Western Mustangs, they saw their winning streak of 29 games abruptly snapped in their first game of the new season.

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ men’s lacrosse club played host to the Great Canadian Lax Bash this past weekend at University Stadium.
Laurier hosted the set of three games in an effort to raise money for their non-sanctioned varsity team, as well as to draw attention to the sport of lacrosse and its lack of funding.
“The event went really well,” commented men’s lacrosse head coach Grant Phillips.
“It was a beautiful day and we came out with a win.”

The Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) will kick off their season here at Laurier this weekend, as the men’s lacrosse team hosts the Western conference series. Competing in the Western conference are Laurier, Laurentian, Western, McMaster, Guelph and Brock.
Playing against a large majority of varsity validated teams, Laurier stands as one of the only non-sanctioned squads.
