Sometime during the night or early Friday morning there was a break and enter in a student house on Hickory St. West, just north of campus at the intersection of Hickory and Hemlock. “We have detectives investigating,” said Olaf Heinzel, Public Affairs Coordinator for the Waterloo Regional Police Service, “I don’t have their report as of yet though.” The house is a rental property occupied by Wilfrid Laurier University students.

Throughout the morning police cruisers were in the driveway and police tape draped across the front door and in the backyard of the house. The forensics unit was also present until about 2pm.

“My understanding is that one person has been taken into custody in relation to that, a 22-year-old Kitchener male,” Heinzel added. More details are pending a report from detectives later today or tonight.
