February 5, 2010 1:59 AM

Around 2:30 a.m Friday morning, the results of the 2010-11 Wilfrid Laurier Students’ Union president were announced at Wilf’s. Kyle Walker, after patiently and nervously pacing around the bar, shouted for joy as his name was announced as the winner.

“I’m happy….I don’t really know what else to say,” said Walker who was almost speechless after his victory.

Kory Preston finished second, Lawrence Maclin in third and Sunny Chan – who was not present at Wilf’s – finished in fourth place.

Voter turnout was approximately 2600, or around 20 per cent.

Congrats Kyle, it was a great campaign and 20% turnout ain't too bad.

20 percent really? on Feb 5, 2010 at 09:50 AM

Wow, a 20% turnout, now that's just sad.

The elections are a huge waste of time and money

Dear Mark, you give over $300 every year to the Student Union and when people vote, they are giving their say to how the $13 million dollars the Student Union operates with every year is allocated. Just to let you know!

Greg Evans on Feb 5, 2010 at 11:05 AM

True, Mark. Democracy sucks.

Congratulations Kyle! I can't wait to see everything you do for Laurier next year!

Wow, 20% turnout :S Isn't that a huge drop from last year?

GOL!!!

Last year 2,818 votes were cast, a couple hundred more.
