After opening their season with a win, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks’ men’s volleyball team has lost four straight matches. The most recent losses came at the hands of the Western Mustangs on Saturday and the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Sunday.

In the Hawks’ home opener on Saturday, things appeared to be improving as the purple and gold won the opening set. However, the Mustangs, who currently rank third in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) standings, took control and won the next three sets, handing the Hawks the loss.

The Hawks’ struggles continued on Sunday as they suffered another 3-1 defeat on the road against the Blues.

Last year’s OUA rookie of the year, Sam Schachter, had a strong weekend in the losses, racking up 25 kills and three service aces.

The Hawks look to get back in the win column this Sunday when they take on the Waterloo Warriors at home.
